Quilting and creating are prayerful tasks.
As my hands pass fabrics, carefully pieced together, through my sewing machine or as my thimble pushes the needle through a quilt covering my lap, I find myself in prayer. Again, I find myself in prayer as words are penned or melodies are made
Those moments find me praying for the person that will wear that quilt or enjoy careful words and for every thought that comes to mind.

I'm Hannah - a wife, a mother, a light-bearer, a keeper.
My grandmother was talking about her cousin recently and how she had held on to her mother's journals for years. She said, "She was a keeper, like you."
That term has rung in my ears since I heard it. I love to decorate my home and my heart with the things that remind me of those who have gone before me as well as things that remind me of all God has done in my life. I guess that makes me a keeper!
And isn't that where so many quilts have started? Old dresses or curtains, a father's shirt or a baby's gown somehow pieced together to warm the wearer? Quilts are for keepers and for giving.
Keeping is not only for the tangible memories held in our hands but for the moments in life that are not quite so easy to hold near as a handpieced quilt. This other keeping happens in words and melodies. It is a joy of Prayerful Pieces, LLC to also work words and song together to keep the stuff of life wonderfully near as we read thoughtful stories or hum along to touching notes that meet us right where we are.
It is my hope that you would find some encouragement for your soul on these pages. These works of word and hand are for you.
